The following is a list of current activities.  Feel free to give me a call or send an email if you have any questions or would like further information.

 

 

2007 Library Funding:  As of this writing, county budgets either have been or will shortly be adopted in their respective counties.  Even though local levy limits remain in place all the counties were able to budget increases in library funding for 2007.  We don’t have local library funding figures yet but indications are that more libraries are seeing steady or reduced 2007 budgets.   

 

Library Legislation Day:    Included in your board packet is a registration form for Library Legislation Day in Madison scheduled for Tuesday 23 January 2007.  LLD is an excellent opportunity to talk with legislators directly and encourage their support for programs that improve library services within the state.  Because this is a budget year contact with legislators is especially important.  Registration is easy; the Wisconsin Library Association arranges for appointments with legislators.  We encourage anyone who can to attend.  You can find more information at: http://www.wla.lib.wi.us/legis/day/index.htm

 

Library Director Changes:  Roxie Novak has been hired as director of the Endeavor Public Library.  Kathy Saemann has been hired as director of the Oakfield Public Library and will be starting about the first of the year. 

 

Wisconsin Library Association Elections:  Several member library directors & staff and Winnefox staff have been elected to leadership positions in the Wisconsin Library Association for 2007.

  • Edie Phillips, Winneconne PL: Secretary, Wisconsin Small Libraries Round Table (WISLR)
  • Laurie Magee, Oshkosh PL: Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, Outreach Services Round Table (OSRT)

·        Joy Schwarz (Winnefox), Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, Media & Technology Section (MATS)

 

Staff Developments:     Lizbeth Terrell has been hired as an Administrative Specialist in our main office.  Char Ziebell and Erica Berkshire have resigned as Interlibrary Loan pages; Matthew Schrottky has been hired as an interlibrary loan page.  Jeff Berger has been hired as a printer.
