Memorandum:
From: Mark Arend, Interim Assistant
Director
Subject: Report of System activities
The following is an update of activities since our last meeting. I would be happy to provide further details at our meeting, or feel free to give me a call or send an email in advance.
This is another difficult budget year. Local governments are trying to maintain services in the face of continued increases for utilities and health insurance premiums and state-imposed levy limits.
There are, however, signs of hope. As of this writing it appears that all 5 Winnefox counties will be increasing library appropriations in 2007. This shows the strong support libraries have, even in these tight budget times.
‘Speak up for your Library’ network: Response
has been very good. As of the end of
August we have signed up 69 persons willing to contact officials on behalf of
their libraries.
Old Van Sale: We sold the old system vans on ebay in August. One sold for $1,550 and the other for $1,375. As both were 1999 models with well over 200,000 miles on them we’re happy to have gotten as much as we did.
Staff news: Administrative Specialist Paul Manone left us at the end of August to return to school. Printer Jesse Schroeder graduated and has moved on.
