The following is an update of activities since our last meeting. I would be happy to provide further details at our meeting, or feel free to give me a call or send an email in advance.

2007 County Funding: Library directors in all five counties are preparing budget requests, though none have been submitted as of this writing. It’s too early in the county budget process to tell how funding will be next year, but we’re expecting another tight budget season.

Trustee’s Workshop: On Monday 18 September nationally-known speaker Pat Wagner will be presenting a program at the Neenah Public Library entitled: How and Why to Speak up on Library Issues in the Community and to Funding Bodies. There will be a light meal at 5:00 and the program will begin at 5:30. You can register by calling the office. This program is jointly sponsored by Winnefox and the Outagamie Waupaca Library System.

Library Director Changes: Becky Horvath, director of the Leon-Saxeville PL in Pine River, has resigned and will be leaving the end of July; Jeanne Williamson has been hired as the new director and will be starting on 1 August. Dianne Bilitz, director of the Oakfield PL, has announced that she will retire at the end of this year.

Tasha Saecker, former director of the Caestecker PL in Green Lake, began her duties as director of the Menasha PL in mid-July.

Staff News: Once again, our Graphic Artist Renee Miller has received awards from the American Library Association for her work.  She won a Best of Show award for materials designed for Oshkosh Public Library’s 2005 teen summer program Express Yourself and another for a booklist designed for Fond du Lac Public Library. Copies of the certificates are included in the board packet.
