EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SEARCH & SCREEN COMMITTEE
Tuesday, October 11, 2005
The Executive Director Search and Screen Committee Meeting
of the Library Board of the Oshkosh Public Library, October 11, 2005, was
called to order at 4:30 p.m. by Tom Willadsen.
The meeting was held in the Staff Training Room at the Oshkosh Public
Library. Present were: John Brennan; Jo
Dell’Antonia; Bonnie Dresen; Judy Malueg; Mary Olson; Lewis Rosser; and Tom
Willadsen. Vern Hess; Don Stolley; and
John Vette were absent from the meeting.
Others present were: John
Nichols, Director, Oshkosh Public Library and Winnefox Library System;
A motion was made by Jo Dell’Antonia to approve the Committee Meeting Minutes of September 21, 2005. After being seconded by Bonnie Dresen, the motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by John Brennan to approve the Closed Session Committee Meeting Minutes of September 21, 2005. After being seconded by Judy Malueg, the motion carried unanimously.
The schedule of the interview days was discussed.
The Committee also discussed the dinners for the candidates. It was decided that the candidates and their spouses would be invited, and three members of the Search and Screen Committee and their spouses. It was agreed upon that each Committee member would volunteer to attend two of the dinners and that arrangements would be made by e-mail.
The Committee also discussed having an “ambassador” to accompany the candidates around. It was decided that Oshkosh Public Library staff would accompany the candidates in the mornings of the interview days and that Committee members would accompany them in the afternoons. The ambassadors for each date are as follows: Jo Dell’Antonia, October 31, 2005; John Brennan, November 1, 2005; Don Stolley, November 4, 2005; Lewis Rosser, November 8, 2005; Judy Malueg, November 9, 2005; and Mary Olson, November 11, 2005.
The Community Meet and Greet was discussed and it was decided that invitations be sent to the discussed list found in Attachment A.
It was discussed that the Committee should meet on November 15, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. to review the interviews and decide on the best candidate. It was also decided that a

representative from each interview group should present to the Search and Screen Committee at that meeting..
The Committee decided that they would need ninety minutes to ask the thirteen questions posed to the candidate. The questions would be on cards to hand out.
John Brennan left at this time.
A motion
was made by Judy Malueg to go into Closed Session to review and discuss the
applications for the position of Executive Director; the interview questions;
and conduct a sample interview pursuant to section 19.85(1)(c) of the Wisconsin
State Statutes. After being seconded by
Jo Dell’Antonia, the motion carried unanimously.
