MINUTES OF THE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SEARCH & SCREEN COMMITTEE
Thursday, August 25, 2005
The Executive Director Search and Screen Committee Meeting of the Library Board of the Oshkosh Public Library, August 25, 2005, was called to order at 1:32 p.m. by Tom Willadsen. The meeting was held in the Staff Training Room at the Oshkosh Public Library. Present were: John Brennan; Jo Dell’Antonia; Bonnie Dresen; Vern Hess; Mary Olson; John Vette; and Tom Willadsen. Judy Maleug; Don Stolley; and Lewis Rosser were absent from the meeting. Others present were: John Nichols, Director, Oshkosh Public Library and Winnefox Library System; Mark Arend, Interim Assistant Director, Winnefox Library System; and Julie Schmude, Administrative Services Coordinator.
A motion was made by John Brennan to approve the Committee Meeting Minutes of August 4, 2005. After being seconded by Vern Hess, the motion carried unanimously.
Style of interview questions was discussed. It was decided that the questions should build rapport and cover the following areas: supervision style, vision of public role – bridge between public and library, brief background, experience with budgets, ideas for new sources of funding, what is applicant proud of, etc.
Committee members were asked to develop and share interview questions by email before the next meeting. Resumes will be reviewed at the September 21st meeting. Final interview questions will be selected at a later time.
The process of how to get and weigh information from other interview groups was discussed. Interview questions from staff and directors will be compiled and distributed to committee members for review.
The Committee would like Barb Dimick to attend the next meeting which is scheduled for Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at 4:30 p.m. in the Training Room of the Oshkosh Public Library.
A motion was made by Vern Hess to adjourn the meeting at 3:25 p.m.
