Memorandum:
To: Winnefox
Library System Trustees
From: Mark Arend, Interim Assistant
Director
Subject: Report of System activities
Date: 15 July 2004
The following is an update of activities since our last meeting. I
would be happy to provide further details at our meeting,
or feel free to give me a call or
send an email in advance.
Summer Reading Program: Summer is a busy time
for many of our libraries and this year is no different; reports are coming in
that they are having successful summer
reading programs. Some are reporting record numbers of
participants. Special thanks to the
Division for Libraries, Technology, and Community Learning for providing passes
for the Bristol Renaissance Faire and the “Wisconsin Castles” (historic house
museums) promotion.
2006 County
Funding: As of
this writing, funding requests have been sent to the committees overseeing
libraries in Green Lake & Waushara counties and requests will be going out in
Fond du Lac and Marquette counties
soon. It’s too early in the county
budget process to tell how funding will be next year, but we’re expecting
another tight budget season.
WCTS Collection
Enhancement Grant: The
effects of the WCTS Collection Enhancement
grants continue to be seen in libraries in Marquette,
Green Lake,
& Waushara Counties. As of the end of June about 3,100 items have
been purchased under this year’s grant.
Library Director Changes: Erika Pawinski will
start as director of the Oxford Public Library on 1 August; current director Ardis Kuhlman will be staying on until mid-August to help
with the transition. Endeavor Public
Library has advertised for a new director and will probably be interviewing in
late July or early August.
Winnefox Staff Changes: Lou
Ann Polishinksi, one of our Interlibrary Loan clerks
has retired. We have hired Abby Ziebell, a former OPL
page has been hired to replace her.
