Memorandum:
From: Mark Arend, Interim Assistant
Director
Subject: Report of System activities
The following is an update of activities since our last meeting. I would be happy to provide further details at our meeting, or feel free to give me a call or send an email in advance.
Overviews of Library & System Activities: In my March report I promised short overviews of member library & System activities in 2002. Those are in your report as exhibits.
County Planning: You may remember that in 2001 the librarians in Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette, and Waushara spent time formulating service priorities & goals for the following 5 years. I am working with the librarians in each county as they evaluate their progress towards reaching the objectives set out in the plans and helping set goals for the next year or so. I hope to have progress reports for you by our next meeting.
Laptop Computer & Projector to Loan: In response to inquiries at the annual librarians meeting we’ve started loaning out a laptop computer & projector to libraries. They can be used for staff training and in-library programs and for presentations in the community. So far they’ve been going out three to four times a month.
Staff News: Van driver Jerry Sitter is recovering from his shoulder surgery and is back working 2 days a week. Interlibrary loan clerk Dianne Holdorf has had back surgery and is off for a few weeks.
The Library Administration and Management Association has awarded Renee Miller an Honorable Mention for her artwork for last year’s Summer Reading Program: Imagination Destination in their annual PR materials contest. The Library Public Relations Council has chosen Imagination Destination materials and the On the Road materials for Oshkosh Public Library’s teen summer program for distribution to their members.
SLP End of Summer Program: On Saturday 16 August from 11:00 to 3:00 families from around Winnefox will head to Oshkosh for a great event celebrating the end of this year’s Summer Reading Program sponsored by Winnefox, Oshkosh Public Library, and the EAA AirVenture Museum. In addition to several special programs, SLP participants will receive free admission to the AirVenture Museum. Librarians are excited about this opportunity and at least one or two are thinking about renting a bus to bring families into town.
