Outlook Tip O' The Month

Ever wanted Outlook to save the address of a sender instead of having to type it manually into a 'Contacts' list?
It's easier than you think:

Open the message.
In the From field, right-click the name you want to make into a contact.
Click Add to Contacts on the shortcut menu.

Click Save and Close.

Internet Tip O' The Month

Internet Explorer getting you down? Tired of all those pop-up ads when you visit web sites? Wish you could open multiple web sites within the same window?

Try Mozilla!:

Mozilla is a free browser with a strong user community. It has many useful features which can be seen at their web site:
http://www.mozilla.org

I've been using Mozilla for over a year now, and I love it. If you wish to give it a try, check out the Useful URL below.

If you do end up wanting Mozilla to be your default browser, here's how you make the switch:

The first time you launch Mozilla after installing the program it should ask you if you want to make it your default browser. If you didn't chose to make it your default browser, follow these steps:

  1. Open Mozilla, go to the Edit menu, and select Preferences.
  2. Click the Advanced menu and then System.
  3. In the System settings, place check marks next to all the elements you want to open in Mozilla. Be sure to select HTML, http://, https://, and ftp://.
  4. Click OK.

If your current default browser is Internet Explorer, you'll need to open it, click the Tools menu, and then select Internet Options. On the Programs tab, remove the check mark next to "Internet Explorer should check to see if it's the default browser" and click Apply.

Windows/Office Tip O' The Month

Organize Start Menu

If your start menu is like most, it can be a challenge just to find what you are looking for. Whenever you install a new program in Windows it should automatically add a Start menu entry at the bottom of the list. Since this can be confusing, Windows has a way to automatically alphabetize the Start menu.

Just open your Start menu, scroll over All Programs, and right-click the first folder you see. Now, just select the "Sort by Name" option and all your Start menu folders will be nice and orderly again.

If you want to change the way the Start menu displays shortcuts, in Windows XP, right-click the Start button, choose Properties, click through to either type of Start menu on the Start menu tab (confused yet?). Click the Customize button. You're looking for the "Scroll Programs" option. Take the check mark out of the field to see all the items in your Start menu at one time.

Downloading Mozilla can be a bit confusing at first.

On the right hand side of their site, you will see a section titled Download Mozilla. In there, look for the area Mozilla 1.1 and click on Win (10.9 MB). This will bring up a Save as... dialog box. Save this file to your desktop, and run it when it's finished downloading.

Fun URL O' The Month

Here is a very fun, extremely addicting game to play on your off hours (it can take some time to play) called Bookworm. Joy is the current reigning champ with over 871,000 points. So far, no one has been able to knock her off the top of the hill. Can you?

Quote O' The Month

Two quotes from this years Nobel Peace prize winner.

"Wherever life takes us, there are always moments of wonder."

"I have often wanted to drown my troubles, but I can't get my wife to go swimming."

Here's a good use for all those pumpkins you got cheap at Festival Foods: Pumpkin Cheesecake.

And if you've got ingredients on hand but are at a loss for what to cook, try "Googlecooking"!
